Ziggurat Restaurant
Makati Ave.

Phone Number: (632) 897-5179

Website: Ziggurat Restaurant

Ziggurat (Indian, African, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern Cuisine)

“The menu says they serve “cuisines of the lands where various Islamic Empires stretched around the early 12th to 14th centuries.” True enough, the menu boasts of Middle Eastern kebabs, Indian and Pakistan curries, plus Northern African and Ethiopian specialties.

The list is quite impressive, actually. For the kufteh (which literally means “pounded” in Persian and refers to any type of ground meat that has been formed into a meatball), Ziggurat not only has beef, lamb and chicken but also duck. For the tikka (cutlets or, according to the menu, “sliced pieces”), not only does the place serve chicken, beef and lamb, but they have tuna and shrimp tikka as well. Aside from your regular chicken or beef curry, there are fruit curries, the choices being coconut curry, which we are familiar with, as well as pineapple, banana, papaya and watermelon curry!

The ambience is very relaxed. You may opt to stay outdoors and hookah your way to the sunrise or stay indoors, which is open only until 1 a.m., and sit on any of the many pillows on the floor. For the road, you may have the TÆElla Ethiopian Honey Beer, which is a sweet albeit dark brew. Dont be fooled by this Cleopatra of a drink: its strength is masked by its sweetness.” – Inquirer

Ziggurat is not only offering us  their famous  Indian, African, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern cuisines but also an enjoyable adventure  to the tastes, sounds and sights of these places foreign to most of us.

I have surfed the Net just to know what anyone says about Phobac, a Vietnamese Restaurant whose three branches are now located in Robinson Manila, Robinson Ortigas and Glorietta. I was really surprised at the same time I am saddened to know that nobody talked about this Restaurant in one of the most popular media of communications and sources of information  of our time.  For me, I consider Phobac as my favorite and the best Vietnamese Restaurant so far. I love very much its Cambodian and Saigon soups. Recently, when we went to Glorietta we were overjoyed to discover that the Phobac Glorietta Branch, after months of being closed due to Glorietta Explosion Controversy,  is now open and serving the public.  We wish Phobac more power, more patronage and more branches in due time!

What really impressed me the first time I came to this place was its bar.  It is something unique and captivating in its design, lighting and strategic in its overall location. It is not surprising therefore to see people flock in various areas closer to the bar where the DJ,  a few steps away,  also operates.  Another thing also that impressed me is the general  mood of the place. Although people were in formal attire (except myself who was wearing prohibited sandal at that time, thanks to my face , if not monetary value otherwise I was cast out from that place hehe) the atmosphere surprisingly remained  casual, friendly, warmth and light.  Music, along with its ambiance,  adds more life and beauty to the moment . Perhaps this explains the presence of some celebrities, the rich and the famous in Fiamma at night.  Best place for night out, hangout, gimik, disco and social drinking.

After  exploring the famous and classy gimikan Fiamma, we decided to stroll and explore also other restaurants, bars, grills and family KTV’s  along the same street of Jupiter,  Makati. Then we opted to have our light dinner at Top Grill, a restaurant renown for its grills, KTV,  Indian, Thai, Asian, Filipino cuisines and its ambiance because it is located at the roof deck. What is really distracting to me in this place is its cable TV monitors in different locations with different shows at the same time. Nice place for hangout and for those who are fond of videokes and the like.
